Feature
ith the introduction of the Ether-GSH2402W, OvisLink has developed the solution for pure Gigabit  campus network or FTTH.  The switch features 24 Gigabit Copper ports plus 2 Mini-GBIC slots.  With the unique In-Switch Converter function.  The FTTH operator can now build the network without extra transceiver.

 

In-Switch Converter
The Ether-GSH2402W features 24 Pure Gigabit Copper ports with auto MDI/MDI-X function to eliminate the need for cross-over cables.  In addition, it has 2 Mini-GBIC slots for 1000Base-LX or 1000Base-SX.  The Web management function that allow users to configure the switch through local LAN or over the Internet.  What's very special about this switch is the in Switch converter.  The 2 Mini-GBIC ports are automatically paired with port 23 and port 24.  So they act as separate media converter.  The operator can then attach an external router to port 23 or port 24. Then routed back into the rest of the switch.  The end result is that the FTTH operator can have a 22 service port using just one switch and one router.

In-Switch Converter

Tag Based VLAN
Unlike ordinary web management switch that has only rudimentary port settings function.   The Ether-GSH2402W equipped with some very useful and advance management features.  Tag based VLAN allow administrators to configure VLAN groups across different switches.  Private VID function is supported to allow switches to write tag information into the packet.  So defining complex VLAN function across the entire network become much easier.  

Rate Control, Trunking, Broadcast Storm filter 
The date rate control allow to limit the speed of each port in 125 steps.  The broadcast storm filter prevents one single station flood the network with broadcast packet.  MAC based Trunking allow combining several ports to multiply the speed of one link.   The priority allow certain port or packet to have more priority than others.  The Static MAC address table function allow MIS to manually entering MAC address in a certain port. Finally port mirror is provided to allow MIS to sniff the packet of each ports for diagnostic purpose.
